Installing a peep sight

The peep sight is the donut shaped device inserted between the strands of the bowstring which gives the archer's eye its first point of alignment. When the archer lines up his sight while he is viewing through the peep sight, consistency is more obtainable. To install a peep sight we suggest using a bow press to avoid damaging strands of the bow string which often happens while using a peep sight tool ( string seperator ).

FOLLOW THESE STEPS TO INSTALL A PEEP SIGHT

1. Determine peep sight location.

Bring your bow to full draw with your eyes closed and settle in to your anchor points. Open your eye that you will use to look through the peep sight and have a friend mark the string at that location.

2. Install your peep sight.

Press your bow and evenly separate the strands where your peep sight will be located. Unpress your bow and double check its alignment and location. If your peep isn't lined up properly, redivide the strands and reinstall it until it's oriented correctly. If your string is made up of two colors, you do not always have to keep the colors separate when dividing them. You can split them up to get proper orientation, just pay attention that none of the strings fibers get snagged out of place and appeat to be tighter than the other strands. If you divide them properly it will have the same look as if you divided the strands by color.

3. Tie in your peep sight

Once your peep is oriented properly and at the proper location, we can install "stop knots" above and below the peep. This should be done on a bow press with a light amount of tension taken off the string. ( Enough tension to keep the peep in between the strands, but slack enough to tie the knot close to the peep )

DO NOT TIE IN THE ACTUAL PEEP SIGHT ITSELF IN TO THE STRING; WHEN A STRING STRETCHES THE PEEP WILL LOSE ITS FORWARD ALIGNMENT REQUIRING FURTHER ADJUSTMENT. WHEN A PEEP ITSELF IS TIED AND KNOTTED TO THE STRING, THE KNOTS WILL HAVE TO BE CUT OFF AND YOU WILL HAVE TO TIE THE KNOT FROM SCRATCH. With knots only above and below the peep, you can realign the peep by simply pressing the bow and then correct the alignment.

3. Confirm proper location and shoot!!
